The Goverlan Interface

Goverlan has a flexible user interface organized into sections and panels which you can easily re-arrange according to your needs. The interface will also adjust to your current feature selection so that only the relevant commands are displayed at any time, allowing for an uncluttered interface.

Search Panel

The Search panel is the quickest way to access the remote administration features available for a user, machine or group. This feature is capable of searching for a single active directory domain, or an entire forest for objects with a specified string, or which matches the selected search template. Once the objects have been found, you can administer them straight from the Result window, or ask Goverlan to set the focus to the object in the Administration & Diagnostics feature.

For more information about the Search panel, see Searching and Selecting Objects.

Console Window

The Console window displays information, warning and error messages as you are working with Goverlan. The Console window is capable of receiving information messages from the Management Console and also from the Remote Control and WMIX programs.

The type of information displayed in the console it solely dependent on the tasks currently being executed within Goverlan. For instance, if Goverlan updates the Goverlan Agents on a remote machine it will display the version number of the old agents as well as the version number of the new agents being installed. If an error occurs, extended error information is displayed in the console window.

The amount of information displayed in this console is extensive and is meant to help you troubleshoot potential problems you may have with a specific Goverlan action. The contents of the console window are also very useful to our support team when assisting you. Remember to always email the console window's contents (To save the contents of the console window to a file, right click the mouse while the cursor is inside the console window and select Save log into a file from the context sensitive menu.) when requesting support.
