FAQs
What is the Goverlan Remote Assistance
Client?
The Remote Assistance Client is a software agent that you install on
your machine in order to receive technical support remotely via
Goverlan.
Will this client consume my machine's
resources or slow it down?
No. The installation of the Goverlan Remote Assistance Client will
not consume your machine's resources since it only runs during a
live remote assistance session. This Remote Assistance Client does
not install a service, driver or any other type of agent which is
always active and consumes system resources.
Once I install this client, can my machine
be accessed remotely without my knowledge?
No. Your machine cannot be accessed remotely without your knowledge.
This client can only be started by you when accepting a Goverlan
Remote Assistance Token (usually received by email).
Once I install this client, how do I
receive help?
You should have received an email or a link to a web page from your
support technician which includes a Remote Assistance Request Token
(with extension '.GHP'). Open this token file to start the Goverlan
Remote Assistance Client and follow the instructions.
Should I always trust a Goverlan Remote
Assistance Request Token?
No. A Remote Assistance Request Token file can be created by any
person using our Goverlan product. The contact information presented
by the token file has not been verified. Only accept a token file
from a trusted and known source.
How do I un-install this client?
If you have installed the Goverlan Remote Assistance Client and what
to remove it, simply open the Add/Remove Applet in the Control
Panel, select the Goverlan Remote Assistance Client entry and
click on the Remove button.
