Remote Administration using
WMI
Windows®
Management Instrumentation (WMI) is a powerful Microsoft
technology.
Using WMI technology, virtually every bit of a machine's
software and hardware can be queried and managed remotely.
However, WMI is an
application programming interface, which means that it can only be
accessed through scripting.
Goverlan v6 provides an unrestricted access to the WMI technology
via an intuitive and friendly user interface. Through Goverlan
v6, you gain access to all WMI's features without the need to write
a single line of script.
WMI has been integrated into Goverlan in three ways to achieve
maximum flexibility
| |
 |
Using WMIX
Perform raw WMI actions on a per machine basis - Explore WMI
Classes and properties - Execute WMI Queries
WMIX is a GUI based implementation of WMI technology, with no
scripting or programming necessary. WMIX is the easiest and most
powerful way to access WMI's management features and to explore
WMI's information repository. WMIX provides access to virtually
every bit of information which is available on a machine, from
the most basic object such as it's processes and operating
system, to the most advanced object such as the settings of the
temperature probes on the motherboard.
See:
WMIX Information Page.

Using
Custom Actions
Perform WMI actions as needed while
you browse your machines
The Goverlan
Custom Action feature allows
you to report the attributes, modify the writable properties,
and execute the available methods of any WMI object on a per
machine basis. Simply configure a Custom Action object with the
desired WMI actions and execute it at any time on the selected
machine.
|
 |
Using Scope
Actions
Perform WMI actions on a set of machines
simultaneously
Configure a scope
action with the desired set of machines, add the desired WMI
report set or execute actions, and run the scope action. It
cannot get simpler than that.
